RESUMO: O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar a eficiência de métodos mecânicos, físico, químicos e culturais de forma isolada ou integrada, no controle de capim-annoni. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado, com 15 tratamentos e quatro repetições. O controle físico do capim-annoni foi baseado na aplicação de fogo enquanto os controles mecânicos consistiram em roçada e gradagem/aração. Para o controle químico, foram testados os herbicidas clethodim e diferentes sais de glifosato. Para os métodos culturais e integrados, foi realizada aplicação de glifosato isopropilamina + potássio e correção da fertilidade do solo, além dos tratamentos com combinação de isopropilamina + potássio, correção de fertilidade do solo e implantação das seguintes espécies forrageiras: Capim-elefante, Capim Pangola, Amendoim forrageiro e Cornichão. Avaliou-se o efeito dos tratamentos sobre a ocorrência de capim-annoni e sobre a composição botânica, um ano após suas aplicações. Métodos de controle isolados, com exceção do uso de glifosato, não apresentam controle eficiente de plantas de capim-annoni. Os sais de glifosato controlam plantas de capim-annoni, mas sua associação com a melhoria da fertilidade do solo e implantação de Capim Pangola é a melhor estratégia para controle da planta invasora.

ABSTRACT: The current study evaluated the efficiency of mechanical, physical, chemical and cultural methods, used exclusively or integrated, to control tough lovegrass. The experimental design was completely randomized, with 15 treatments and four repetitions. Physical control of tough lovegrass was based on the application of fire, whereas mechanical controls consisted in mowing and harrowing/plowing procedures. The herbicide clethodim and different glyphosate salts were evaluated for chemical control. Glyphosate and soil fertility correction were applied as cultural and integrated methods, in addition to isopropylamine + potassium salts combination, soil fertility correction and implantation of one of the following forage plants: Elephant grass, Pangola grass, Forage peanut and Birdsfoot trefoil. The effect of treatments on the incidence of tough lovegrass and on its botanical composition was evaluated one year after their applications. Isolated control methods, except for glyphosate using, did not present efficient tough lovegrass control. Glyphosate salts could control tough lovegrass plants, but their association with improved soil fertility and Pangola grass implantation was the best strategy to control the invasive plant.

RESUMO A buva (Conyza bonariensis L.) é umas das principais plantas daninhas dos sistemas de cultivos conservacionistas, especialmente por sua evolução à resistência ao herbicida glyphosate. Os objetivos deste trabalho foram verificar a resposta de Conyza bonariensis suscetível (S) e resistente (R) ao glyphosate em diferentes estádios a herbicidas alternativos e avaliar o potencial fisiológico de sementes destes biótipos. Dois estudos foram realizados e repetidos, sendo o primeiro em casa de vegetação em esquema fatorial 2x3x10, sendo A: biótipos de buva (S e R); B: estádios de desenvolvimento (I (1-2 folhas), II (5-6 folhas) e III (30-35 folhas)) e C: herbicidas (glyphosate, chlorimuron-etílico, metsulfuron-methyl, diclosulam, amônio-glufosinato, paraquat, paraquat+diuron, diquat, 2,4-D além de testemunha não aplicada).O segundo estudo foi desenvolvido em laboratório, realizando-se avaliações do potencial fisiológico das sementes, a partir do por peso de mil sementes (PMS), germinação (G), primeira contagem da germinação (PG), índice de velocidade de germinação (IVG) e emergência (IVE), comprimento da parte aérea (CPA), raiz (CR) e total (CT), matéria seca da parte aérea (MSPA), raízes (MSR) e total (MST), testes de frio e envelhecimento acelerado. O biótipo CR foi eficientemente controlado pelos herbicidas alternativos ao glyphosate, utilizados até o estádio de 6 folhas. As sementes do biótipo CR apresentaram desempenho fisiológico superior em todas as variáveis analisadas, com maior tolerância a condições adversas em seu estabelecimento. O manejo de buva resistente a glyphosate demanda a utilização de estratégias que visem evitar a produção de novas sementes.

ABSTRACT Hairy fleabane (Conyza bonariensis L.) is a major weed of the conventional crop systems. Therefore, the objectives of the present study were to assess the responses of glyphosate-susceptible (S) and -resistant (R) C. bonariensis at various developmental stages and evaluate the physiological potential of seeds to propose alternative herbicides for the control of this weed. Two experiments were performed in replicates. The first experiment was performed in a greenhouse, arranged in a 2 x 3 x 10 factorial design. Specifically, two hairy fleabane biotypes (S and R) at different developmental stages (I, II, and III) were subjected to various treatments (glyphosate, chlorimuron-ethyl, metsulfuron-methyl, diclosulam, ammonium glufosinate, paraquat, paraquat+diuron, diquat, 2,4-D, and control). Percentage control was evaluated at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after the application of the treatments (DAT), and shoot dry mass (SDM) was measured at 28 DAT. The second experiment was performed in a laboratory to evaluate the physiological potential of seeds based on the weight of 1000 seeds (TSW); shoot length (SL), radicle length (RL), total length (TL), fresh seedling mass (FSM), dry seedling mass (DSM), accelerated aging (AA) and cold test (CT), and germination (G) in response to cold and accelerated aging. The alternative herbicides tested effectively controlled biotype R up to the stage -I. Seeds of biotype R showed higher physiological potential in terms of all analyzed variables and exhibited greater tolerance to adverse conditions during seedling establishment. Therefore, strategies for the management of glyphosate-resistant hairy fleabane should aim at preventing new seed production.

RESUMO: O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência de uso de herbicidas no controle de capim-annoni em função da disponibilidade de radiação solar e da presença ou ausência de lâmina de água. Para isso, foram conduzidos dois experimentos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 2x2x4 e 2x2x5, em que o fator A equivaleu ao ambiente (radiação natural ou reduzida); fator B à condição hídrica (com lâmina d’água de 2 cm ou sem); e, o fator C aos herbicidas: cyhalofop butyl (315 g ha-1), glyphosate (1080 g ha-1), cyhalofop butyl + glyphosate (315 g ha-1+ 1080 g ha-1) e testemunha (sem aplicação) no primeiro experimento. No segundo experimento, os herbicidas utilizados foram: cyhalofop butyl (315 g ha-1), glyphosate (1080 g ha-1), sethoxydim (184 g ha-1), imazethapyr (106 g ha-1) e testemunha (sem aplicação). Glyphosate controla eficientemente plantas de capim-annoni com quatro afilhos (>90%), sendo superior a cyhalofop butyl, imazethapyr e sethoxydim, independente das condições. A redução da disponibilidade de radiação solar gera menor produção de matéria seca da parte aérea pelo capim-annoni, podendo inclusive, contribuir para maior eficiência de controle somente por imazethapyr e cyhalofop. De maneira geral, a condição de lâmina d’água não afeta o controle de capim-annoni pelos herbicidas.

ABSTRACT: The objective of the study was to evaluate the efficiency of herbicides use in the control of tough lovegrass according to the availability of solar radiation and the presence or absence of flooded. Two experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design, in a 2x2x4 and 2x2x5 factorial scheme, where factor A was equivalent to the environment (natural or reduced radiation); factor B to water condition (with a 2 cm flooded or without); and, factor C the herbicides: cyhalofop butyl (315 g ha-1), glyphosate (1080 g ha-1), cyhalofop butyl + glyphosate (315 g ha-1 + 1080 g ha-1) and control (without application) in the first experiment. In the second experiment, the herbicides used were cyhalofop butyl (315 g ha-1), glyphosate (1080 g ha-1), sethoxydim (184g ha-1), imazethapyr (106 g ha-1) and control (without application). Glyphosate efficiently controls plants of tough lovegrass with four tillers (>90%), being superior to cyhalofop, imazethapyr and sethoxydim; independently, of resource conditions. Reduction in the availability of solar radiation generates less shoot dry mass production from the weed, and improves the control only by imazethapyr and cyhalofop. In general, a flooded condition does not affect tough lovegrass control by herbicides.

RESUMO. Os inibidores da acetolactato sintase são o principal grupo de herbicidas usados em culturas de inverno do Sul do Brasil onde seu uso intenso selecionou biótipos resistentes de nabo. A resistência afeta a eficácia dos herbicidas, e a identificação do mecanismo de resistência envolvido é importante na definição de estratégias de manejo. O objetivo deste estudo foi elucidar o mecanismo de resistência em biótipos de nabo através da quantificação da atividade da enzima, sequenciamento do gene ALS e avaliar a resposta dos biótipos à aplicação do herbicida iodosulfurom e imazetapir após tratamento com inibidores do metabolismo da citocromo P450 monooxigenase. Os biótipos suscetível (B1) e resistentes (B4 e B13) eram de lavouras de trigo da região Noroeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Os resultados demonstraram que a afinidade da enzima pelo substrato (KM) não foi afetada nos biótipos B4 e B13, porém o Vmax dos biótipos resistentes foi superior quando comparado ao biótipo B1. Os biótipos resistentes não apresentaram resposta metabólica diferencial ao herbicida iodosulfurom e imazetapir quando inibidos pelo malathion e butóxido de piperolina. Entranto, o sequenciamento do gene ALS evidenciou mutação na posição 574 com uma substituição do aminoácido triptofano por leucina (Trp-574-Leu) nos biótipos resistentes.

ABSTRACT. Acetolactate synthase inhibitors are the main group of herbicides used in winter crops in Southern Brazil where their intensive use has selected for herbicide-resistant biotypes of radish. The resistance affects the efficacy of herbicides, and identifying the resistance mechanism involved is important for defining management strategies. The aim of this study was to elucidate the resistance mechanism of radish biotypes by quantifying the enzyme activity, ALS gene sequencing and evaluating the response of biotypes to iodosulfuron and imazethapyr herbicide application after treatment with a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase inhibitor. The susceptible (B1) and resistant (B4 and B13) biotypes were from wheat fields in the Northwest of Rio Grande do Sul State. The results demonstrated that the enzyme affinity for the substrate (KM) was not affected in biotypes B4 and B13 but that the Vmax of the resistant biotypes was higher than that of biotype B1. The resistant biotypes showed no differential metabolic response to iodosulfuron and imazethapyr herbicides when inhibited by malathion and piperonyl butoxide. However, gene sequencing of ALS showed a mutation at position 574, with an amino acid substitution of tryptophan for leucine (Trp-574-Leu) in resistant biotypes.

ABSTRACT Glyphosate is the herbicide most used worldwide. In cropping systems that rely on repeated applications of glyphosate or cultivate genetically modified soyabean crop, there are numerous cases of glyphosate resistant weeds, including Conyza bonariensis. Differences among competitive ability of Conyza spp. have been found. However, little information is available on the fitness costs related to glyphosate resistance in Conyza bonariensis. We evaluated growth, phenology, and seed viability of glyphosate-resistant (GR) and glyphosate-susceptible (GS) Conyza bonariensis from Brazil, in 2012 (fall/winter) and 2013 (spring/summer). When grown alone, in pots, C. bonariensis GR biotype developed more rapidly than the GS biotype, as evidenced by their earlier bolting, flowering, and seed set. In 2012, GR biotype showed 221.9 cm of plant height compared to 181.1 cm from GS, at the flowering time. In both years, the seed production per plant was superior for GR biotype, showing germination higher than 80% against 66.5% from the GS biotype. Thus, C. bonariensis GR biotype confirmed no fitness penalty also showing characteristics that allow us to infer in superior competitive with the absence of the herbicide. It is important to point out that the biotypes evaluated here have different genetic background and the differences between them may not be fully attributed to the resistance to glyphosate. However, the GR biotype can persist in the environment and outcompete with GS biotypes regardless of further glyphosate selection of pressure.

RESUMO O estabelecimento de culturas comerciais em sucessão a coberturas de inverno, com presença de densa camada de palha, proporciona significativa supressão de plantas daninhas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial supressor de coberturas de inverno sobre a incidência inicial de plantas daninhas na cultura do milho e seu efeito na produtividade da cultura semeada em sucessão. Um experimento foi conduzido no ano agrícola de 2012/2013, em área experimental da UFSM, Campus de Frederico Westphalen RS. Foram utilizadas quatro diferentes espécies de cobertura de inverno (aveia-preta, azevém, ervilhaca e nabo) semeadas em faixas, além da testemunha mantida em pousio. No pleno florescimento das coberturas foi realizada a quantificação da massa seca e a dessecação das mesmas. O milho foi semeado em sistema de plantio direto em sucessão às coberturas. Aos 15 dias após a emergência do milho foi avaliada a incidência e a massa seca de parte aérea das plantas daninhas presentes (0,25 m²). As principais espécies daninhas presentes na área foram: corriola (Ipomoea grandifolia), leiteiro (Euphorbia heterophylla), milhã (Digitaria sanguinalis), tiririca (Cyperus rotundus). De forma geral, a ervilhaca e o azevém foram as coberturas de inverno com maior capacidade supressora sobre as plantas daninhas avaliadas. O melhor desempenho produtivo do milho foi observado sobre a palhada de azévem, inferindo para uma relação de supressão de plantas daninhas e produtividade da cultura.

ABSTRACT The establishment of commercial crops in succession to winter cover crops that leaves a dense straw layer provides significantly suppression of weeds. The objective of this work was to evaluate the suppressive potential of winter cover crops on weed infestation in maize and its effect on the yield of the maize sown in succession. The experiment was conducted in the 2012/2013 crop season, in an area of the UFSM Campus Frederico Westphalen, State of Rio Grande do Sul. Four different species of cover crops (black oat, ryegrass, vetch and forage radish) were seeded and a fallow area was used as control. Evaluations to quantify the dry matter and chemical desiccation were performed at the full flowering period of the cover crops. Maize was sown in no-tillage system, in succession to the cover crops. The incidence and shoot dry matter of weeds (g 0.25 m-2) was evaluated 15 days after the maize emergence. The main weed species in the area were: morning-glory (Ipomoea grandifolia), wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla), large crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis) and purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus). In general, vetch and ryegrass were the winter cover crops that better suppressed the weeds evaluated. The best maize yield was found in the area previously covered with ryegrass, inferring a relation between the cover crop and suppression of weeds and crop yield.

RESUMO O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a competitividade relativa de cultivares de soja com o capim-arroz, com base em caraterísticas morfofisiológicas das espécies. Os experimentos foram conduzidos em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com 4 repetições. No primeiro estudo, tanto para soja quanto para capim-arroz, determinou-se a população de plantas em que a matéria seca da parte aérea tornou-se constante e independente da população (16 plantas∙vaso−1 ou 400 plantas∙m−2). No segundo estudo, foram conduzidos 2 experimentos para avaliar a competitividade dos cultivares de soja BMX Apolo RR e BMX Potência RR com plantas de capim-arroz, ambos conduzidos em série de substituição, sob diferentes proporções de plantas∙vaso−1 (100:0; 75:25; 50:50; 25:75 e 0:100) entre a cultura e a planta daninha. A análise da competitividade foi efetuada por meio de diagramas aplicados a experimentos substitutivos e uso de índices de competitividade relativa. Aos 44 dias após a emergência das espécies, efetuou-se a aferição dos parâmetros fisiológicos e morfológicos da cultura e planta daninha. Os cultivares de soja BMX Apolo RR e BMX Potência RR apresentam similaridade quanto à competição com o capim-arroz, de modo que a habilidade de uma espécie em interferir sobre a outra é equivalente. Para a estatura de plantas, o capim-arroz apresenta superioridade competitiva em relação ao cultivar de soja BMX Apolo RR, de ciclo superprecoce e porte baixo. A competição intraespecífica é mais importante para o capim-arroz do que a competição interespecífica com os cultivares de soja, resultando em efeitos negativos sobre características morfofisiológicas da espécie.

ABSTRACT The aim of this work was to evaluate the competitiveness between soybean cultivars and barnyardgrass, based on morphological and physiological characteristics of species. The experiments were conducted in completely randomized experimental design, with 4 replications. In the first study, for both soybean and barnyardgrass, it was determined the population of plants in which shoot dry matter became constant and independent of the population (16 plants∙pot−1 or 400 plants∙m−2). In the second study, 2 experiments were conducted to evaluate the competitiveness of BMX Apolo RR and BMX Potência RR soybean cultivars with barnyardgrass plants, both carried out in replacement series under different proportions of plants∙pot−1 (100:0; 75:25; 50:50; 25:75 and 0:100) between the crop and the weed. The analysis of the species competitiveness was determined through diagrams applied to replacement series experiments and use of relative competitiveness indexes. At 44 days after the emergence of species, the physiological and morphological parameters of the crop and the weed were evaluated. The BMX Apolo RR and BMX Potência RR soybean cultivars show similar competitiveness when competing with the barnyardgrass; therefore, the ability of one species to interfere on another is equivalent. For plant height, barnyardgrass displays higher competitiveness compared to BMX Apolo RR, with early cycle and short height. The intraspecific competition is more important to barnyardgrass than interspecific competition with soybean cultivars, resulting in negative effects on the morphological and physiological characteristics of species.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar o teor de pigmentos fotossintéticos em biótipos de azevém (Lolium multiflorum) suscetíveis e resistentes ao glyphosate, por dois diferentes métodos, bem como, estabelecer uma correlação entre o índice de clorofila obtido pelo equipamento portátil e a metodologia clássica (clorofila extraível). Um experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação e laboratório da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Campus de Frederico Westphalen - RS - em esquema fatorial 2X4, em que o fator A equivaleu aos biótipos de azevém (resistente e suscetível a glyphosate) e o fator B a estádios de desenvolvimento das plantas (afilhamento, vegetativo I e II, e reprodutivo). O biótipo de azevém suscetível apresentou maiores teores de clorofila a, b, total e carotenoides, inferindo em um maior potencial competitivo frente ao biótipo resistente ao herbicida. A determinação do teor de clorofila pelo determinador portátil apresentou alta correlação com o método clássico de determinação de pigmentos fotossintéticos, podendo, assim, ser usado com precisão na avaliação deste, proporcionando economia de tempo bem como do uso de reagentes.

The aim of this study was to quantify the content of photosynthetic pigments in ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) susceptible and resistant to glyphosate, by two different methods, as well as the correlation between chlorophyll content obtained by portable and classical methodology (chlorophyll extractable). An experiment was conducted in a greenhouse and laboratory of the Federal University of Santa Maria, Frederico Westphalen Campus - RS in a 2X4 factorial scheme, where factor A was equivalent to ryegrass (resistant and susceptible to glyphosate) and factor B to the developmental stages of plant (tillering, vegetative I and II and reproductive stage). The susceptible ryegrass biotype showed higher contents of chlorophyll a, b, and total carotenoids, inferring a superior competitive potential to the herbicide-resistant biotype. The determination of chlorophyll by portable determinato showed high correlation with the classical method of determination of photosynthetic pigments, and can thus be used to assess this accurately, saving time, as well as the use of reagents.

Objetivou-se nesse trabalho avaliar a produtividade e qualidade fisiológica de sementes de trigo, cultivar ‘Quartzo’, colhidas após a dessecação com dois dessecantes (glyphosate e paraquat) em dois estádios reprodutivos (11.2 e 11.3). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 3 x 2 (dois dessecantes e uma testemunha) e dois estádios fenológicos do trigo, com quatro repetições. Foram avaliados a produtividade de sementes, a massa de mil sementes e a qualidade das sementes (germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, comprimento de parte aérea e radicular, massa fresca e seca de plântulas, envelhecimento acelerado, condutividade elétrica, frio sem solo e lixiviação de potássio). Diante dos resultados obtidos, pode-se concluir que o uso de dessecantes na cultura do trigo nos dois estádios de desenvolvimento não interferiu na produtividade, mas influenciou negativamente na qualidade fisiológica de sementes. De forma geral, o glyphosate foi o que proporcionou menor efeito fitotóxico sobre as sementes, e as sementes obtidas com aplicação de dessecantes no estádio 11.2 foram de qualidade fisiológica superior às obtidas com aplicação no estádio 11.3.

This study aimed to evaluate the yield and seed quality of wheat, cultivar ‘Quartzo’, harvested after desiccation with two desiccants (glyphosate and paraquat) at two reproductive stages (11.2 and 11.3). The study used a randomized block experimental design in a 3 x 2 factorial arrangement (two desiccants and a control) and two growth stages of wheat, with four replications. The following were assessed: seed yield, thousand seed weight and seed quality (germination, first germination count, root and shoot weight, seedling dry and fresh weight, accelerated aging, electrical conductivity, cold germination, potassium leaching). Based on the results, it can be concluded that the use of desiccants on wheat at the two stages of development have not affected yield, but they have negatively influenced physiological seed quality. Generally, the herbicide glyphosate showed the lowest phytotoxic effect on seeds, and desiccant application at stage 11.2 resulted in higher physiological seed quality compared with application at stage 11.3.

O trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar qual a melhor época de aplicação do N e qual o parcelamento da adubação nitrogenada a ser adotado no sistema plantio direto, em cultivares de feijoeiro do grupo comercial preto e carioca. O experimento foi conduzido no município de Jaboticaba - RS. Os tratamentos constaram da aplicação de N, utilizando como fonte nitrogenada a ureia, em uma única dose (100%), nas épocas: emergência das plântulas, aos 7, 14, 21, 28 e 35 dias após emergência (DAE), e das seguintes combinações de parcelamentos: 50%+50%, 30%+70% e 70%+30% da dose em cada época, totalizando 36 tratamentos. As variáveis avaliadas foram: estatura de plantas (cm); número de nós da haste principal; número de nós m-2; número de legumes planta-1; número de legumes m-2; número de grãos legume-1; altura da base do primeiro legume ao solo; altura de inserção do primeiro legume; e massa de 100 grãos e produtividade de grão. Conclui-se que a melhor época de aplicação e parcelamento foi 30% da dose aos 7DAE + 70% aos 35DAE, diferindo das sugestões propostas pelas atuais recomendações de N para a cultura do feijoeiro. Além disso, a aplicação de 100% da dose de N, na emergência das plântulas, apresentou as menores produtividades, não se mostrando promissora para os grupos de feijoeiro estudados.

The research had as objective to evaluate what is the better time of N application and what is the partition of nitrogen fertilization to be used in no tillage system, in bean cultivars of black and carioca commercial groups. The experiment was conducted in Jaboticaba city - RS. The treatments were N application, using urea as nitrogen source, in one dose (100%) in the time: seedling emergence, at 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 days after emergence (DAE) and according to the following partition combinations: 50%+50%, 30%+70 and 70%+30% of the dose in each time, totalizing 36 treatments. The variables evaluated were: plant height (cm); number of nodes of principal stem; number of nodes m-2; number of pods plant-1; number of pods m-2; number of grains pod-1; base height of the first pod from the soil; insertion height of the first pod; and 100 grains mass and productivity. It is concluded that the better time of application and partition was 30% of the dose at 7DAE + 70% at 35DAE differing of the suggestions proposed by the actual N recommendations for bean crop. And that the application of 100% of the N dose, at the seedlings emergence, presented the lowest productivity does not showing be promising to the bean groups studied.

A vinhaça, resíduo do processo de destilação do álcool é rica em potássio (K) e sua aplicação ao solo pode aumentar a disponibilidade do nutriente, mas também provocar alterações nas propriedades químicas do solo. O trabalho objetivou avaliar a viabilidade técnica da utilização da vinhaça como fonte alternativa de K na sucessão aveia preta/milho silagem/milho safrinha, além de possíveis alterações em atributos químicos do solo na camada de 0-10cm. O experimento foi conduzido no Município de Ajuricaba (RS), no período 04/2010 a 06/2011. Os tratamentos utilizados foram: T1) adubação mineral NPK; T2) N + P sem vinhaça; T3) N+P+50m³ ha-1 de vinhaça; T4) N+P+100m³ ha-1 de vinhaça; T5) N+P+150m³ ha-1 de vinhaça; e T6) N+P+200m³ ha-1 de vinhaça. Na aveia preta, foram avaliados os teores totais foliares de P, K e o acúmulo de matéria seca. No milho silagem, a altura de plantas, altura de inserção da espiga e a produtividade de forragem e, no milho safrinha, o peso de mil sementes e a produtividade de grãos. Quanto aos atributos químicos do solo, foi avaliado o pH, os teores de P, K, Ca, Mg e a capacidade de troca catiônica. Na aveia-preta, as maiores doses de vinhaça proporcionaram os menores acúmulos de matéria seca, sendo 100m³ ha-1 a melhor dose observada. Para a cultura do milho, a dose de 100m³ ha-1 de vinhaça proporcionou produtividade de silagem semelhante à adubação mineral e foi capaz de suprir a necessidade de potássio também para o cultivo do milho safrinha. Em relação aos atributos químicos do solo, não se observaram alterações significativas na camada avaliada (0-10cm). A utilização da vinhaça como fonte de potássio mostrou-se uma alternativa tecnicamente viável e a sua utilização em nível de lavoura uma forma de descarte desse resíduo.

Vinasse is a residue from the distillation process of alcohol and it is rich in potassium (K). Its application in soil can increase the availability of the nutrient as well as cause changes in the chemical properties of soil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the technical viability of using vinasse as an alternative source of potassium in black oat/corn silage/short-season corn succession, and possible changes in soil chemical properties in the 0-10cm layer. The experiment was conducted in the city of Ajuricaba (RS) in the period of April 2010 to August 2011. The treatments used were: T1) NPK fertilizers; T2) N+P without vinasse; T3) N+P+50m³ ha-1 of vinasse; T4) N+P+100m³ ha-1 of vinasse; T5) N+P+150m³ ha-1 of vinasse and T6) N+P+200m³ ha-1 of vinasse. In black oat, total foliar content of P, K and dry matter accumulation were evaluated. In corn silage, plant height, ear insertion height and forage productivity were assessed. While in short-season corn, the weight of a thousand seeds and the grain yield were measured. Regarding soil chemical properties, pH, P, K, Ca, Mg content and cation exchange capacity were evaluated. In black oat, the highest doses of vinasse presented the lowest accumulations of dry matter and the best dose observed being that of 100m³ ha-1. For corn crop, the quantity of 100m³ ha-1 of vinasse provided similar silage productivity to mineral fertilizer, and was also able to meet the needs of potassium for the cultivation of short-season corn. In relation to soil chemical properties, significant changes in the 0-10cm layer were not observed. The use of vinasse as a source of potassium showed to be a technically viable alternative and a way to dispose of this waste in a crop level.

A energia da radiação solar absorvida pelas plantas é fator determinante da taxa fotossintética e pode limitar a produção, o acúmulo de biomassa e o desenvolvimento das plantas. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a interceptação da radiação luminosa e sua relação com a necessidade de manejo de plantas daninhas através de coroamento e roçada, nas espécies florestais: Acacia mearnsii De Wild, Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden, Mimosa scabrella Benth e Ateleia glazioviana Baill, nos espaçamentos: 2,0x1,0m; 2,0x1,5m; 3,0x1,0m e 3,0x1,5m. A medição da radiação luminosa foi realizada mensalmente durante o período de 0 a 360 dias após o plantio. Os pontos de amostragens foram entre as plantas na linha e na entre-linha de plantio. O coroamento e a roçada não foram necessários quando os níveis de interceptação de radiação fotossinteticamente ativa foram maiores que 60%. Porém, tornaram-se necessários a partir do segundo mês após o plantio e com frequência de 60 dias para todas as espécies até os primeiros 180 dias. O coroamento foi dispensado para a espécie E. grandis a partir dos 210 dias e para A. mearnsii e M. scabrella após os 240 dias após o transplante. A roçada foi dispensada somente para a espécie E. grandis nos espaçamentos 2,0x1,0m e 2,0x1,5m a partir dos 210 e 240 dias após o plantio, respectivamente.

The energy of solar radiation absorbed by the plants is a decisive factor of the photosynthesis tax and it can limit the production, the biomass accumulation and the development of the plants. The objective of the research was to evaluate the interception of the luminous radiation and her relationship with the need of handling undesirable plants through crowning and mowing, in the forest species: Acacia mearnsii De Wild, Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden, Mimosa scabrella Benth e Ateleia glazioviana Baill, submitted at levels spacing: 2,0x1,0m; 2,0x1,5m; 3,0x1,0m and 3,0x1,5m. The measurement of the luminous radiation was accomplished monthly during the period from 0 to 360 days after the planting. The points of samplings were among the plants in the line and in the planting among-line. The crowning and mowing were not necessary when the levels of interception of radiation photosynthesis activate were larger than 60%. However, they became necessary starting from the second month after the planting and with a frequency of 60 days for all the species until the first 180 days. The crowning was spared for the species E. grandis starting from the 210 days and for A. mearnsii and M. scabrella after the 240 days after the transplant. Cleared was given only for the species E. grandis in the spacings 2,0x1,0m and 2,0x1,5m starting from the 210 and 240 days after the planting, respectively.

O amarelecimento da soja Roundup Ready após aplicação do glyphosate pode estar associado à deficiência momentânea de manganês. Por isso, com a hipótese de que soja tolerante ao glyphosate necessitaria de uma adição suplementar de manganês, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar diferentes manejos na aplicação foliar de manganês sobre alguns parâmetros da soja. Foram desenvolvidos dois experimentos, um no município de Taquaruçú do Sul e outro em Boa Vista das Missões, RS, no ano agrícola 2009/2010. Foram testados os seguintes tratamentos: 1) sem aplicação de glyphosate, com controle manual das plantas daninhas e sem aplicação foliar de manganês (testemunha); 2) sem aplicação de glyphosate, com controle manual das plantas daninhas e uma aplicação foliar de manganês sete dias após esse controle manual das plantas daninhas; 3) com aplicação de glyphosate e sem aplicação foliar de manganês; 4) aplicação de glyphosate em mistura com manganês; 5) aplicação de glyphosate mais uma aplicação foliar de manganês sete dias após aplicação do glyphosate; 6) aplicação de glyphosate mais aplicação foliar de manganês parcelada em duas épocas, aos 7 e 14 dias após aplicação do glyphosate; 7) aplicação de glyphosate e uma aplicação foliar de manganês aos 14 dias após aplicação de glyphosate. A aplicação de glyphosate foi realizada no estádio V5 da soja, na dose de 720g L-1 e.a, enquanto a dose de Mn utilizada foi 2,0L ha-1 de uma formulação contendo 14% (m/v) de manganês solúvel. Não houve diferença significativa entre os tratamentos para as variáveis estatura de plantas e altura de inserção da primeira vagem. A aplicação de glyphosate não afetou a absorção e o teor foliar de manganês e nitrogênio na cultura da soja. Mesmo com aumento no teor foliar de manganês com a suplementação de manganês, não houve incremento na produtividade da soja. Isso mostra que em solos com teores de Mn acima do suficiente a aplicação do herbicida glifosato não requer a suplementação foliar de manganês em soja geneticamente modificada tolerante a esse herbicida.

The yellowing of Roundup Ready soybean after glyphosate application, can be associated to a momentary manganese deficiency. Because of that, with the hypothesis that glyphosate tolerant soybean would need supplementary addition of manganese, the objective of this research was to evaluate different managements in the foliar application of manganese in some soybean parameters. It was developed two experiments, one at Taquaruçú do Sul and other at Boa Vista das Missões, RS in the year of 2009/2010. It was tested the following treatments: 1) without glyphosate application with manual weed control and without manganese foliar application (untreated check); 2) without glyphosate application with manual weed control and one manganese foliar application at 7 days after this manual weed control; 3) with glyphosate application and without manganese foliar application; 4) glyphosate application in mixture with manganese; 5) glyphosate application added of one manganese foliar application at 7 days after glyphosate application; 6) glyphosate application added of manganese foliar application split in two times, at 7 and 14 days after glyphosate application; 7) glyphosate application and one of manganese foliar application at 14 days after glyphosate application. The glyphosate application was realized in the V5 soybean stage, using 720g L-1 i.e, while the used dose of Mn was 2.0L ha-1 of a formulation with 14% (m/v) of Mn. There were no significant difference among the treatments to plant height and height insertion of the first legume. The glyphosate application did not affect the absorption and the foliar amount of manganese and nitrogen in soybean crop. Even with the increase in foliar manganese amount, there was no increasing in soybean productivity. This shows that in soils with Mn levels above of the sufficient, it is not necessary foliar manganese addition in genetically modified soybean tolerant to glyphosate.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar as habilidades competitivas relativas de plantas de soja e de genótipos competidores por meio do arranjo em série de substituição. Foram realizados seis experimentos na UFRGS, em Porto Alegre-RS, em 2001 e 2002. Os tratamentos constituíram-se de cinco proporções de plantas de soja e do genótipo competidor: 100:0; 75:25; 50:50; 25:75 e 0:100. A soja foi representada pelos cultivares "IAS 5" e "Fepagro RS 10" e os competidores por nabo ou pelo cultivar de soja "Fundacep 33". Os tratamentos foram dispostos em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições. A análise da competitividade foi efetuada por meio de diagramas aplicáveis ao arranjo de substituição e interpretação de índices de competitividade. Constatou-se que a proporção entre plantas de soja e de nabo alterou a relação de competição entre essas espécies, mas que a proporção entre plantas de soja de diferentes cultivares não modificou tal relacionamento. O nabo foi mais competitivo que os genótipos de soja "IAS 5" e "Fepagro RS 10", enquanto a competitividade de "Fundacep 33" equivaleu-se à desses cultivares.

The objective of this study was to compare the competitive abilities of soybean plants with those of competitor genotypes through the design of replacement series. There were performed six experiments at UFRGS, in Porto Alegre - RS, in 2001 and 2002. The treatments tested were five proportions of plants among soybean and competitor genotypes: 100:0; 75:25; 50:50; 25:75; and 0:100. Soybean was represented by the cultivars 'IAS 5' and 'Fepagro RS 10', and the competitors by forage radish or by the soybean cultivar 'Fundacep 33'. The treatments were arranged in a completely random experimental design, with four replications. The competitivity analysis was accomplished through diagrams applicable to the substitutive design and interpretation of competitive indexes. It was proved that the proportion among soybean plants and forage radish plants changed the competition relation among these species, but that the proportion among soybean plants from different cultivars did not altered such relationship. Radish was more competitive than the soybean cultivars 'IAS 5' and 'Fepagro RS 10', whereas the competitivity of 'Fundacep 33' genotype was equivalent to these cultivars.
